Task 1 - Third Video Idea

Developing 3 Ideas For Music Videos...

The third song I'd like to make a video for is 'The Hunter' by Slaves.
Here's the original video for the song

Slaves is one of the largest punk rock bands from the UK currently, earning their reckless reputation through their energetic and aggressive concerts worldwide. They built up a following through a huge number of festival appearances, in which stage diving, mosh pits and chanting was nearly always involved.

The video itself would show a teacher explaining to his students his political views as the song itself
includes many. Having been bored at the start, the students and the teacher quickly become ramped up in a big crowd and begin to riot. I picture the students joining in with the chorus whilst chairs, folders and other class equipment is wrecked. Stylistically throughout the song I want the video to become more and more abnormal, with extreme close ups on the passionate teacher and the excited boys and girls.

This video for 'We Are Young' by fun has a similar feel, although with less aggression.

Task 1 - Second Video Idea

Developing 3 Ideas For Music Videos...

The second song I'd like to make a video for is 'Shouldn't Have Done That' by Two Another.
Here's the song, which as of yet has no video...

Two Another are an upcoming electric dance duo from London growing their fanbase, like many others, through Soundcloud.  They have a similar audience to artists such as Tom Misch and CAPYAC and they have the star image of solo talents working and writing on their music with little help.

The idea behind the video is how the only way to get over mistakes is to accept and learn from them. To portray this visually the video would showcase a solo dance act set in a street-lit city area (most likely London to reflect the band's lifestyle). The catch is that the dancer's shadow would dance separately, until the very end where they dance together. The shadow represents the mistake made and the dance represents the attempt to run away from it.

Stylistically I imagine the video to be similar to this video below, showcasing a dirty but also colourful and cool nighttime London.

The video idea fits in nicely with the track itself and with the star image. The lyrics themselves are about regretting your actions whilst the video portrays the duo's London upbringing and organic style of music.

Task 1 - First Music Video Idea

Developing 3 Ideas For Music Videos...

The first song I'd like to make a video for is 'Trip Switch' by Nothing But Thieves.
Here's the existing video...

Nothing But Thieves are one of many large English rock bands blowing up in recent years alongside bands such as Slaves, Royal Blood and Foals.

The narrative in the video I want to make depicts a young boy, who at first is caring for his mother. He wears all black streetwear, and as he leaves he puts on another black jacket on and grabs a paper bag before leaving the house. Whilst walking down the street he notices the aggression within his surroundings; a dog growling, cars beeping, people arguing etc. Having seen this he walks faster and with more determination. Now we see that he has a gun within the paper bag, which he nervously checks before hiding under his arm. When he looks up from the bag we see a corner store. The rest of the video plays out with the boy robbing the store of its money, some teabags, and running home to put the kettle on.
The second part to this video would be a band performance. In my head I picture the exact same performance in two opposite settings of black and white, with the band members wearing the opposite colour to their surroundings. This would switch back and forth quickly to the beat of the song, as if someone was 'switching' the light on and off in the studio.
Stylistically I took part of my inspiration from this music video below for the song What Went Down by Foals, a similar band. I really want the level of intensity and aggression to be made clear.

The point behind the video is that people judge for actions others make when they don't know the reason why they did it. I want lots of closeups of shocked or angry witnesses, not all necessarily humans (a growling dog for example) to portray a sense of general aggression from the surroundings.
